CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Canoe Kayak Sprint

“Last set, best set, breakfast set!”

This is what is usually chanted by my teammates whenever we finish our final sets, whether on land or in water, to look forward to our team breakfast at Koufu in Upper Thomson.

The sport I am sharing with you is Canoe Kayak Sprint. As a student athlete in NTU, I have found solace in training at Macritchie Reservoir, where I get to escape the pressures of academic life. It trains both my body and mind, reminding me to stay disciplined and accountable for myself.

CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Wine Society

When I first joined NTU Wine Society, I thought it would just be wine tastings and some chill nights. It is that, but also a lot more.

What makes the club stand out is how we balance learning and leisure. There is no pressure to be an expert or to memorise flavour profiles. People come with all levels of experience, and everyone is encouraged to learn at their own pace. Sometimes you leave a session having picked up technical knowledge about acidity and tannins, and other times you just remember that one funny wine label that made the whole table laugh. You do not need to know anything going in, just show up, be curious, and enjoy.

CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Buddhist Society

When you hear the name “NTU Buddhist Society,” you might imagine a purely religious club focused on in-depth Buddhist study. But NTUBS is much more than that. I joined without much deep knowledge of Buddhism, and I quickly learnt that this is a warm, inclusive community open to everyone, regardless of background, nationality, or experience. Whether you're exploring Buddhism for the first time or looking for like-minded individuals in your university journey, you’ll find your place here. Along the way, you’ll also build friendships that last beyond university life, like I did here.

CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Windsurfing

On my first day of windsurfing, I watched the buildings turn into tiny LEGO blocks as I drifted closer and closer to the anchored container vessels out at sea. The wind had taken me on a one-way trip towards Batam, and for a moment, I genuinely panicked. Thankfully, our instructor had been keeping a close eye on me and sped over on her small craft to tow me back to shore.

That was my first day.
And yet, I came back the very next day — hoping to chase the same thrill I had just experienced.
