CCAs of NTU 25’: Cultural Activites Club (Media and Infotech)

Written by: Emmanuel Cheong, Director

No- we’re not the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, USA.

We’re cooler.

CAC Media & IT (MIT) is NTU’s biggest event coverage club, and we strive to capture moments in frames, aiming to encapsulate the efforts of students from over 23 different clubs under CAC to the best of our creative abilities. While our deliverables revolve around photography, videography and web development, we place great pride and emphasis on member welfare, skill development and community.

Whether you’re a seasoned freelancer, or a newbie passionate about making cool things, MIT offers a space to build lasting experiences beyond a few grades.

Legacy in Storytelling

CAC doesn’t have photo prints in their

cupboards dating back to 1991 for no

reason.

MIT’s history traces to the beginnings of the Cultural Activities Club, when we focused on archiving CAC and Member Club events.

No joke- we found this out through scourging through our inventory and finding CASETTE TAPES from the early 2000s.

Today, MIT specialises in Photography, Videography and Website Development for CAC. Our unique position allows us to have direct contact with all 23 member clubs, ranging from Piano Ensemble to Wushu, enabling you to find new ways to capture NTU’s diverse cultural landscape.

Decked with industry-standard gear and bi-weekly trainings, MIT is built to help sharpen your craft. We’ve been privileged to invite multiple note-worthy experts as guest speakers to talk about their expertise on topics encompassing their craft—giving members incredible insight and an unfiltered look behind the curtains of the creative industry.

If coding sounds more like you… we want you too!

We’re amplifying our IT portfolio; and you’ll have the opportunity to manage CAC’s IT infrastructure and conceptualise webpage designs. If you want to build something sustainable with real impact– we’ve got the resources to make it happen! (And you’ll pick up camera skills too, which is pretty cool)

For the truly fearless- we’re gearing up for special long-term documentary projects that challenge members to go deeper beyond event coverages, into narrative storytelling. Last year, we’ve been fortunate to work alongside Symphonic Orchestra and NTU DanceSport Academy on separate documentaries; both premiering at Welcome Week 2025.

No Experience? No Problem

Regardless of how experienced you are though, amateur or gearhead, MIT welcomes creatives on all ends of their journeys.

You’ll be surrounded by like-minded creatives who share your creative passions, but also a supportive, growth-oriented culture. MIT provides our members a safe space to try, fail, and rise to be better all the same.

Build friendships that last beyond lenses here. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, challenge you, and celebrate your wins—big or small. If you’ve been looking for a place to grow your craft and your circle away from academics, this might just be it.

Joining Us Is EZ Work

Our team will do most of the heavy lifting in the recruitment period.

We just need your help with 3 things:

1. Visit Us At Welcome Week – 11-13 Aug @ AIA Canopy

Chat with us about gear, roles and commitment levels, while getting hands-on with some of our cameras! (just… please don’t break anything…)

2. Scan the QR Code at the Booth

This will take you to a Microsoft Forms document for you to list your interests and preferences; one of us will reach out to you to schedule a relaxed online interview.

3. Prepare an Online Portfolio

Doesn’t need to be huge; just upload a few nice photos or videos that you’re proud of into a sharable drive. If you’re excited and a good fit, you’ll find yourself in the mix of our game-filled meetings in no time!

Message from the Chair

As the outgoing director, this committee has been more than I wished for. MIT has been a great community to discuss crazy media ideas and to push each other further. The amount of times we could fall back onto each other’s help was a key highlight for last year. MIT is more than just a club, it's a home away from home.

Come join us this year and grow this incredible community! Meet fellow MIT-ers and create a community you are proud to look back on. Push yourselves further together and ultimately have fun.

We will be at Welcome Week @ AIA Canopy! Come join us and ask questions about what MIT is all about, see you there!

Feel free to reach out if you would like to learn more about MIT!
