CCAs of NTU 25’: WSC SP Challenge ur Limits (CurL)
Written by: Gloriana Augustine, Portfolio Representative
Our Vision: Disability Does Not Equate to Disqualification
CurL’s vision is to empower individuals that are Physically Challenged and/or Intellectually Disabled to realise their potential by challenging their physical and mental limits. At the same time, we aim to raise public awareness, allowing our service users and others to look beyond their disabilities, fostering the spirit of volunteerism in our community. We believe that everyone has potential worth celebrating — and we’re here to walk alongside them in that journey.
Our Purpose: Who Are We & What Do We Do?
CurL is a Special Project portfolio under NTU’s Welfare Services Club (WSC) that seeks to redefine ability and empower lives. Through engaging events and meaningful interactions, we connect with our target service users who are Physically Challenged and/or Intellectually Disabled. From table-top activities to carnivals, our events are designed to build confidence, spark joy, and foster genuine friendships between volunteers and service users. These experiences create a space for fun, connection, and dignity — where both service users and volunteers can grow together.
Our Community: Who We Serve
Joining CurL means being part of a warm, welcoming community centered around meaningful service and genuine connection between our peers and the community. Our focus is on supporting our target service users who are Physically Challenged and/or Intellectually Disabled, whom we meet through our partner organisations. These service users aren’t just people we help; through consistent engagement, we build valuable relationships where we learn from each other and grow together.
Each CCA meetup is a chance for us to grow together, build long-lasting relationships and fond memories. In CurL, you’ll meet many kind-hearted people passionate about making a positive difference. Being part of this community helps you grow not just as a member, but as a compassionate and humble person – one who is ready to learn, serve, and bring those lessons back to your own community to empower others.
CurL is more than just a CCA — it’s a place where everyone is seen, valued, and encouraged to contribute. If you want to be part of something meaningful, build real friendships, and grow alongside others, come join our CurL family.
Joining our CCA: Our Subcommittees
To be part of CurL, every member joins a subcommittee — each one playing an essential role in making our events and vision come alive. You don’t need prior experience, just a willingness to learn and a heart to serve.
Our five subcommittees are:
Bizmag, which plans and executes fundraising and manages sponsorships.
Liaison, which connects with external partners and organises internal CCA bondings.
Logistics, which sources, prepares, and manages all event materials.
Events, which curates engaging and inclusive programmes for our service users.
Publicity, which handles media coverage and content creation to raise awareness.
Each subcommittee collaborates closely with the others, and you’ll be supported by seniors as well as the respective subcommittee heads, who are passionate about what they do. If you’re ready to step into a community that serves with purpose, come visit our booth during Welcome Week! Recruitment will open shortly by the 3rd week of August— come say hi at our booth or drop us a DM on Instagram (@ntuwsc_curl), if you’d like to find out more! We’d love to hear from you.
