CCAs of NTU 25’: UAVionics Society
Written by: Jia Ding Yeoh, President
Do you share that burning passion in learning and building your own UAV? Join us at Uavionics Society to start your hands-on projects on UAVs with us!
Our Purpose:
UAVIONICS Society was established for individuals who are interested in designing, sourcing and building their very own UAVs, a prime example would be one of our alumni Mr Zhang who is currently the CEO of Avetics Global, a well-respected leader in the field of UAVs. Using our rich connections, they are able to act as project mentors and assist, guide and advise us in our UAV projects. Last but not least, our society can also be an excellent stepping-stone for UAV related research from our club advisor or from other Professors. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to showcase your technical skills, here will always be the place for you to realize your UAV dream.
What the club does: Learn, Connect, Build and Compete
Our activities revolve around providing our members an immersive and insightful experience which consist of theoretical and practical workshops covering topics such as microcontrollers’ 101, introduction to ROS, Computer Vision 101 etc. Industrial visits for networking with industrial professionals, get to know their latest cutting-edge products. Our mission is to create a space where students can Learn, Connect, Build and Compete- while exploring the real- life applications of UAV’s.
Whether you are from MAE, EEE, CCDS or someone passionate about flying tech, we welcome all levels of experience. From microcontroller programming and computer vision to ROS and flight control, our workshops build your foundations from scratch.
What we do: From Circuits to Skies
Most recently, one of our self-led student projects took part in EIC 2025 (Engineering Innovation Challenge) with the vision of utilising autonomous drone to monitor crops’ health in vertical farms, our students put their knowledge in engineering (MAE and EEE) into action! If you are interested in showcasing your engineering skills or just here to learn and enjoy yourself, you are more than welcome to join us in Uavionics Society!
Our community: Engineers who Soar
We are a close-knit group that values collaboration just as much as curiosity. Outside of our main sessions, we bond over spontaneous dinner bonding and nerding out over drone videos at our place in Garage@EEE/Garage@iHub.
Joining Us: Your drone journey starts here
No experience? Not at all an issue. All you need is just curiosity and desire to build.
You can sign up during welcome week- just drop by our booth and have a chat! We would also be sharing our semester plans on Instagram [@ntu_uavionics_society] and telegram [https://t.me/+-RsonPtxANM1YTA1] .
Whether you are looking to pick up a new skill, work on impactful projects, or just have fun flying things- you will find a home at UAVIONICS Society.
Closing
If you like to get your hands dirty and immerse yourself in the world of UAVs, I’m confident that UAVIONICS society is the right place to be. I’m more certain that you will find yourself learning, troubleshooting but most importantly having tons of fun with liked-minded individuals.
