CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Calisthenics

Written by: Shaun Wong Kung Shuen, President

Ever seen someone hold themselves parallel to the ground on a bar? That’s a front lever, and at NTU Calisthenics Club, that’s just another Tuesday night. We’re the club that turns raw bodyweight into strength, control, and seriously cool moves. Whether you’re chasing your first pull-up or your 10-second human flag, NTU Calisthenics Club welcomes everyone, no matter your background, body type, or experience. We believe strength isn’t something you have to be born with. It’s something you build.

Our Purpose: Strength Through Simplicity

Calisthenics is the art of bodyweight strength training, using nothing but your own body and gravity. No gym memberships. No machines. Just bars, sweat, and community.

NTU Calisthenics Club was created to make an inclusive and welcoming Calisthenics community. Our goal is simple:

  • Build a strong, supportive fitness community on campus

  • Promote healthy, active living in a flexible and sustainable way

  • Help students unlock their physical potential, one pull-up at a time

  • Spread awareness of this amazing sport

We cater to a wide range of students, beginners who’ve never done a push-up, gym bros looking for skill training, dancers and climbers who want better control, advanced practitioners looking for a community, or anyone curious to explore what their body is capable of.

More than just training, we provide a space where progress is celebrated, and growth is measured not just in reps, but in confidence and camaraderie.

What We Do: Move, Master, Motivate

We run regular training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 6–8 PM, held at Hall 13 fitness corner. On wet days, we will be training under shelter at Hall 7 lobby. Each session includes:

  • Warm-ups & mobility drills to stay injury-free

  • Skill practice: pull-ups, handstands, levers, flags, and more

  • Strength & conditioning circuits

  • Mini-challenges and occasional partner/team workouts

We focus on individual progress but always train as a group. You’ll be encouraged to push yourself, but also to rest, recover, and listen to your body.

Commitment-wise? Totally flexible. We understand that NTU students juggle hectic schedules, deadlines, and midterms. There’s no mandatory attendance, come when you can, train how you like, grow at your own pace. You’ll be amazed how much you improve just by showing up.

Our Community: Vibes That Keep You Coming Back

Outside of formal training, the bonding never stops. We organize:

  • Social outings

  • Group challenges and club-wide fitness games

  • Chill hangouts and post-training dinners

The culture is chill but motivated. We hype each other up when we hit new skills and laugh when we fall (literally). We’re not just training partners—we’re a team.

Joining the Club: No Ego, Just Effort

You don’t need to be fit to join. You just need the mindset to try. There’s no tryout, no experience required. We welcome all NTU students—whether you’re from sports, engineering, ADM, or business. What we look for is effort, consistency, and curiosity. Calisthenics is for everyone, and we’ll meet you where you’re at.

To join us, simply visit our booth at North Spine B2 during Welcome Week, or DM us on Instagram @ntucalisthenics. We’ll be happy to chat, answer questions, and maybe even demo a handstand or two 😉

Your Journey Starts Here!

NTU Calisthenics Club isn’t just about working out. It’s about discovering your own strength, challenging your limits, and doing it all with people who genuinely want to see you grow.

Come for the gains. Stay for the people.

We’ll see you at Welcome Week!
